What I was doing when the application crashed: Kgoldrunner hesitates and crashes. The player runs invisible, then reappears. Tried reinstalled Kgoldrunner and it didn't help. It is "normal" that the player sometimes disappears and reappears at a new place. This happens if the Qt and KDE libraries temporarily cannot keep up with the real-time speed of the action and they omit time-signals required to drive animation. KGoldrunner keeps track of real time and issues "catch-up" actions when time-signals have been missed. The player then jumps to where he should be if the animation had kept up with real time. Experience shows that this is preferable to jerky slow-downs and speed-ups which used to interfere with play. Usually jumps are because of slow graphics libraries, CPU or cards. In this case it appears to be the sound libraries, Phonon and Xine, that are not keeping up. If this is a serious problem for you, I can only suggest that you turn off sound in the Settings menu. |
