Hi, here in KDE 4.7.4, you can configure the shortcuts the way you want in Gwenview shortcuts config dialog, using right-left arrows if you wish so. Is it still a problem for you? I think this has been fixed recently in master code[1]. I can now use arrow keys to show previous or next photo in the view mode and fullscreen mode.
