Description brice rebsamen 2010-12-03 04:31:59 UTC
Version: 3.0.2 (using KDE 4.4.5)
OS: Linux

First of all: it's on version 3.4.5 not 3.0.2 but 3.4.5 was not in the dropdown list at bugs.kde.org

What happens:
Suddenly, text input goes wrong: new characters appear at the left of the cursor, and old characters get pushed to the right. back space deletes the chars from the right and shift the characters to the left...

When:
I cannot reproduce the bugs although it happens almost daily (I use Kate as my main editor for coding). I use the CTRL key a lot: to select/delete words, CTRL-D for commenting, CTRL-F to search, etc... I sometimes do mistakes such as pressing CTRL-UP for instance; I have the feeling that the problem appears after too many of those mistakes, but I can't reproduce.

My fix is to close the file I am editing (not the whole application) and reopen it.

Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-5-686
Compiler: cc

known and we still don't have any way to reproduce it nor fix it. Seems somewhere deep in Qt... See bug 246162
