Description Alexander Potashev 2010-11-15 05:29:54 UTC
Version: unspecified (using Devel)
OS: Linux

The virtual folders in timeline:/calendar are named in Russian like this: "января 2010 года", "февраля 2010 года" and so on. But "января" is the declined form (i.e. used in cases like "5th of January") of January.

The string "%B %Y" in kio_timeline.po is translated as "%B %Y года". I don't understand why this triggers usage of declined forms of months, while "%B" seems to be a placeholder for the name of the month in the nominative case.

Reproducible: Always

The problem still exists with KDE 4.5.80 (4.6 Beta1).

Bug Squad: it seems OK in French but we don't have declinaisons.
Attaching a screenshot to show how it is for me.

Should be confirmed with a similar language (is there any?)

Ukrainian locale is also spoiled by this bug.

BugsQuad: marking as NEW, thanks ALexander and Yuri for the follow up.

CCing Chusslove as he could maybe find a fix?

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

The Nepomuk project is no longer included in the KDE Software Compilation. With Plasma 5, we have replaced most of the underlying technology with Baloo and other components. Hopefully this will have addressed your concern.

We encourage you to try out Plasma 5 (+Baloo) and let us know if your problem persists.
Comment 7 Alexander Potashev 2015-03-29 06:15:54 UTC
The codebase is the same -- kioslaves/timeline/kio_timeline.cpp, thus it's unlikely for this bug to go away by itself.

In Plasma5 the month folders are not translated for me: for example "Mar 2015" with Russian locale.
Comment 8 Alexander Potashev 2016-03-12 00:51:59 UTC
I confirm this bug (exactly like described initially) with KF 5.19.0 + Dolphin 15.12.2.
