The crash looks like bug 226263, which was caused by a package version mismatch. Ensure that you have all the plasma related packages installed and updated (at the same version) Regards Dear Dario (or other KDE 'bugger'), Thanks for your answer. I 'solved' the problem by re-installing/upgrading my laptop from openSUSE 11.2 to 11.3. Meanwhile I have learned that the not-working synaptiks tool is probably due to a drivers/kernel module problem which still awaits a solution. I was advised to be patient... It's annoying not being able to switch of my touchpad, but there are worse things in life. Best wishes, Thanks for confirming that the reported problem is now solved.
