On Thinkpad X201T, KDE does not recognize when entering tablet mode (flipping screen around) and does not respond to rotating the laptop nor pressing the portrait switch on the display.

X201 has an accelerometer that flips the display to the desired orientation depending on how user is holding the tablet in portrait mode. There is also a forced override with a portrait-landscape switch button.

This propably requires support from Xorg as well for the accelerometer but nevertheless I guess KDE could at least handle the forced switching button all by itself. Having to run krandtray and switch orientation by hand from the menu is not optimal when there is a dedicated button available.

There should also propably be an checkbox option in KDE screen configuration window "Follow accelerometer in tablet mode" OSLT.

Still present in 4.8.3. Also the rotate display button can't be mapped in the KDE shortcuts settings.

Just curious, do the rotate buttons even send a key code? Test with "xev".

Unfortunately, we did not have a maintainer for the "krandr" components, which are used to manage displays and monitors in the KDE Workspaces.

The "krandr" components has been superseded by "KScreen" in newer releases of the KDE Workspaces. It is compatible with all versions since 4.11, and is also used with Plasma 5. Please check with your distribution how to update to KScreen.
