I don't understand, it doesn't change other settings. Are you sure that you didn't click on "default" button before to applu ? Yes, I'm pretty sure. The "Defaults" button controls only settings for the current section (eg. "Security"), right? In my case options from other sections got changed/reset too. I can confirm this with KMail 1.13.5 on KUbuntu 10.10 Maverick (KDE 4.5.1) I just switched the other way, to prefer plain to HTML, made sure I clicked on OK, and at least the following changed: - message list aggregation to 'activity by date'. I have never had that setting on any of my folders and don't know where it possibly came from - theme to 'Classic', using columns 'subject', 'receiver', and 'date'. I used 'Fancy' for as long as I remember, probably since I've been on KDE 4 I didn't notice any change to the system tray (still disabled) or date (fancy) settings that the original poster mentioned. Another option that was changed: 'show HTML status bar' was disabled. *** Bug 264578 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Interestingly, now I can switch back-and-forth between preferring HTML and plain text, and the folder settings do not change any more. This was the first time I changed the setting for preferred viewing format in a long time. Is it possible that the setting was recorded in an older config file format, and that this version of KMail didn't deal very well with it? More settings that were affected: - templates for replies to sender, replies to all/list, and forwarding are now all %BLANK. (In reply to comment #7) > More settings that were affected: > - templates for replies to sender, replies to all/list, and forwarding are now > all %BLANK. And even after I choose "defaults", these templates are not reset to what the defaults are on a clean install. I'm splitting the non-working defaults as a new bug 265569. fixed in 4.8.3 |
