I have been using Skrooge 0.7.3 for the last few days and I must say that I REALLY like it. It is fast, lightweight, and has a very intuitive interface. I am trying to make the switch from Quicken (with Windows) to something on Ubuntu. I have played with Grisbi, kMyMoney, GnuCash, Skrooge, and a few others. The interface is excellent in Skrooge but I have one with. Maybe this feature is there already and I just have not found it but I see no mention of it in the forum or in the bug list. Anyway, in Quicken it is possible for me to simply press an 'Update' button and then the software will log in to, say, my American Express account and download all of my recent transactions. This saves me from having to go on several sites and just improves the overall user experience. Aside from that, I love the product!

Reproducible: Didn't try

Hi there,

I'm sorry, but we're not going to fix this.

The reason why is that to our knowledge, there is no Open standard for communicating with banks data. Aqbanking (http://www2.aquamaniac.de/sites/aqbanking/index.php, german only) is an attempt at doing this, as far as I can tell from its usage in other software, but the protocol is not universally adopted by banks.

In short, it would mean:
* a large chunk of new code
* new complex user interfaces for setup
That will allow:
* saving a few manual downloads per month
* only in a few banks

Hope you can understand our position, and thanks for liking Skrooge :)

Guillaume

Would it not also save uploads, i.e. you can issue payments and alike via online banking?
