(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package:           kdesu
Version:           KDE 2.1.1
Severity:          normal
Installed from:    RedHat RPMs
Compiler:          Not Specified
OS:                Linux
OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified

When I try to start up an application that needs root privileges (i.e. kpackage) the kdesu screen pops up I type in the correct root password click ok and I get the message incorrect password! Please try again.
If I drop down to a terminal and su to root it works fine...

Any ideas??

in kde 3.2.2 I get this "error".
I cant "kdesu" to any user, but i can to "su" to any user, all using pam or not.
in auth.log seems to be a pam error --> "su(pam_unix)[3520]: authentication failure; logname= uid=1005 euid=0 tty=pts/23 ruser=gazpa rhost=  user=root"
But it worked fine in previous version compiled with the same options (3.1.x & 3.2.1).
I have tried to recompile several times with other options (--with-pam=no --with-shadow, ...) but alwais get the same.
I can login in kdm using pam with all users.
