Description Carlton 2010-10-10 18:55:52 UTC
Version: 2.0.1 (using KDE 4.5.2)
OS: Linux

While trying to rip an audio cd to mp3, everything seems ok and will work unless you click on the "configure plugin" button just to the right of the file type drop down list. You cannot change the bitrate etc?

This is the error:

""could not find the k3b Lame mp3 encoder config module for application k3b library "kcm_k3blameencoder" not found. Possible reasons.
- An error occured during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control module
- You have old third party modules lying around

Check these points carefully and try to remove the module mentioned in the error message. If this fails, consider contacting your distributor or packager."

Reproducible: Always

Hi, thanks for the report. What distribution do you use? Have you used k3b from distribution's repository or compiled it yourself?
Comment 2 Carlton 2011-01-16 17:22:29 UTC
The distro is openSuSE 11.3. It came from the distro's repository. The K3B version was 2.0.1 ; KDE version 4.5.4 release 9. I've upgraded to KDE version 4.5.5 release 1 and have the same problem.

I have the same problem - and it's not resolved. When trying to open the configuration Window while Ripping an Audio CD (no matter which filetype is the selected) it results in the following error:
"
Possible reasons:
- An error occured during your last system upgrade, leaving an orphaned control module behind
- You have old third party modules lying around
Check these points carefully and try to remove the module mentioned in the error message if this fails consider contacting your distributor or packager.
"

And that's it. No hint to what is going on there.

System Info:
Arch (Manjaro)
Kernel 6.6.2-1
KDE Plasma 5.27.9
QT Version 5.15.11

Comment 9 Julius R. 2023-11-28 16:29:13 UTC
Sorry, I meant version 23.08.3-2 of course.
Comment 10 Albert Astals Cid 2023-12-10 22:25:09 UTC
Is the a point in doing that?

I mean i understand the error should not happen but what's the rationale for opening the configuration Window while Ripping an Audio CD?

We are not talking about main program setting window, but the ripping configuration setting. Example: We want to rip an Audio CD to MP3, then you can configure the bitrate of the mp3 from the dialogue window.
Comment 12 Albert Astals Cid 2023-12-11 23:01:32 UTC
But you want to change it while the ripping is happening or from that dialog before the ripping has started?

Before, of course...

A possibly relevant merge request was started @ https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/k3b/-/merge_requests/57
Comment 15 Dave Gilbert 2023-12-16 02:12:51 UTC
Hi Albert,
Yeh that fix fixes this for me - thanks!
(Note I suspect it's not the same as the original bug; they got a good real error, where as what Julius reported in comment 8 and that I also saw
was no error in the dialog which seems to be the odd fallthrough KCModuleLoader)
