Description Kevin Brubeck Unhammer 2010-10-07 08:27:42 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.1)
OS: Linux

In Digikam, when you've starred some files in a folder, you can click a star at the bottom of the screen to show only those with that many stars or higher. This works great to quickly select some photos, then get a list of only the selected ones (much like Picasa's hold feature).

In Dolphin, to get a similar workflow (e.g. opening and closing images in Gwenview to check them all out) by using stars, you have to click "Search", click the "+", click the dropdown menu and select "Rating", click "more than or equal to" and finally click a star. Rather more work than the single-click feature of Digikam.

Could we have a "button" that can be added to a toolbar, that looks and works like Digikam's star filter?

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
Had to click 7 times

Expected Results:
Click only 1 time

The first time I as a relatively new Dolphin user wanted to get this functionality, I gave up. The second time too. Then I stumbled upon the advanced search features by chance and tried to click the +, and by clicking the + I surprisingly got more options on the second bar than on the first, and one of them was what I was looking for... and then I never used it again because it required 7 clicks.

On a related note, since UI should be consistent, I think the "name filter" that you can show by pressing Ctrl+I should also be possible to add to a toolbar, so it can be visible all the time, for those users who are shy of keyboard shortcuts but have friends who can add a button to their apps...

Resetting assignee to default as per bug #305719

This now requires 2 clicks ("Find.." -> Rating: "4 or more") which I consider acceptable.
