Bug 251995

Summary: tab ordering off in filter rules section

Description Mike Frysinger 2010-09-22 00:05:10 UTC
Version: 1.13.5 (using KDE 4.4.6)
OS: Linux

using tab to move between filter criteria in the filter rules window seems to be off ... instead of moving between objects in a left-to-right pattern, it goes far left, far right, then middle.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
- start kmail
- Settings -> Configure Filters
- create a new filter by clicking on the New link in the bottom left corner of the dialog (not strictly necessary, but makes reproduction description simpler)
- focus on the first drop down element (contains entries like "Complete Message", "Body of Message", etc...)
- hit tab a few times

Actual Results:
focus went in the order:
 - left element
 - right element
 - middle element
 - left element on the next line

Expected Results:
focus should have been in the order:
 - left element
 - middle element
 - right element
 - left element on the next line

there have been some other bug reports in the past, but the tab ordering they describe doesnt seem to apply to the elements i'm looking at.

Yep, this is weird.

Just had a quick glance at the source code but found nothing (obvious) wrong parts. Looks like Qt's implicit tab order is going crazy here?

At least it's still a valid bug for KMail2.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kmail2 (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.12 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
