Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.4)
OS: Linux

KDE upgrade ignores the dialer selected by the user, replacing it with Skype. The previous setting is lost.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
Tell KAddressBook to make a phone call.

Actual Results:
1.
skype not found

Expected Results:
1.
Use the previously selected dialer (as of 4.3.5) to make the call.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.34.7-0.2-desktop
Compiler: gcc

Hej,

KAddressBook in 4.4 is a complete reimplementation of the application. The part that dials a number is a separated component with its own configuration file now. So we don't have a migration path for this and highly probably won't offer one because being short of resources.

Sorry for the inconveniences

Ciao,
Tobias

Frankly, I do not understand the logic behind this resolution. KDE, being an open source project, has potentially unlimited resources, doesn’t it? At least, that is what the advertising materials say…

Hej Christopher,

I think this is a general misconception, Open Source projects have only as much resources as people volunteer to help. And unfortunately during the last years I have the feeling more and more people only want to use software instead of helping to improve them... sad but true.

Ciao,
Tobias
