There is no feedback/ notification when a synchronization was done/succeeded/failed.
This is the case both for manually triggered synchronizations as for "automatic" synchronizations.

Especially inthe manually triggered case one should be able to find out whether synchronization succeeded or failed (or is still under progress).

Observed in 4:4.5~20100912.1174548-1maemo1.1173569 .

The "feedback" should also be in accordance with usage and user expectation (e.g. user likely waits for a mail, thus, with a synchronization process she wants that the flap closes and new emails "pop" in/ are highlighted).

Separately, the date the last sync was successfully done could be printed somewhere.

As this might help to spot other issues easier, raised priority.

I agree with the importance but "high" is more adequate is my view
as with a well operating client, sync should just happen so that the user
does not really think about it. And testers/developers have other means
to check what is going one (command line or akonaid_rds).

I disagree, or at least want to state that a manual sync is important functionality (you might not want your phone to go online every 5 minutes).

Way better in 4:4.5~20101013.1185493-1maemo1.1185177. Still a "last __succesfull__ sync: 5 minutes ago" or something like that would be great.

Ask me to open separate issue if you like. Downpriotized this one.

We now also have per-folder sync progress indicators. Should be good enough IMHO, if you want more please file separate wishes :)
