Description Dennis 2010-09-13 11:53:45 UTC
Version: 4.5 (using KDE 4.5.1)
OS: Linux

Running inside my virtual machine with the resolution 1024x768:

KDE 4.5.1-0ubuntu1 from Kubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat beta (fully updated up to now)

I noticed following minor things that could (and should) be improved:

- Shutdown dialog window too small for German translation
- Button »Cancel« in shutdown dialog window too small for German translation
- Shutdown dialog window has some ugly (not transparent) edges on the lower left and right and upper right

- Reboot dialog window too small for German translation
- Button »Cancel« in reboot dialog window too small for German translation
- Reboot dialog window has some ugly (not transparent) edges on the lower left and right and upper right

- Button »Cancel« in logout dialog window too small for German translation
- Logout dialog window has some ugly (not transparent) edges on the lower left and right and upper right

I don't know if this is the right bug tracker or correct package to report against. Please let me know if I'm wrong here or if it's ok. Also let me know whether I should attach some screenshots of the things mentioned above. I'm also willing to support you with more information, if needed.

Thank You in advance,

Dennis

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Install KDE 4.5.1 from Kubuntu for example in German language (or use current Kubuntu Maverick Beta Live-CD). Set your screen resolution to 1024x768 (if this step is needed at all?). Click on the KDE menu button and then on »Verlassen«, then on »Abmelden« (logout), »Neustart« (reboot) or »Herunterfahren« (shut down) respectively. Watch the translations in the dialogs and on the »Cancel« button and watch the edges of the dialogs against a light or medium uni-color background closely.

Actual Results:
Dialog windows too small. »Cancel« buttons too small. Three of four dialog window edges are black and not transparent.

Expected Results:
Dynamically adjusted sizes or at least give it some more space! Four completely transparent edges (rounded) of the dialog windows.

This test was done inside a virtual machine with resolution 1024x768, in Hi-Color/True-Color mode without any 2D or 3D graphic acceleration functions activated.

The Kubuntu Maverick Beta standard window and widget styles were left unchanged. Window decorator/widget style: Oxygen. Workspace/desktop design: Air.

The shutdown dialog with Polish translation looks malformed too...
I have desktop effects turned off. I am using Air theme.

Now, after installing Kubuntu 10.10, the problem with non-transparent edges of dialog windows seems to be gone. But the buttons still aren't wide enough for the German translation.

Because of that and because Szymon Świerkosz confirmed the button problem, I'd like someone (Szymon Świerkosz or Lubos Lunak?) to change the the status of this bug to »Verified«, please (I cannot change it by myself).

I edited the summary of this bug (removing the »non-transparent edges« part).

Thanks.

This problem still exists (german translation only?). I tried various Plasma themes, but this does not effect the place of the logo.

Can't be so hard to fix, I guess. KDE 4.8.3 and shutdown dialog still looks ugly. :(
