Description Toralf Förster 2010-09-12 12:50:14 UTC
Version: 1.3.1 (using KDE 4.4.5)
OS: Linux

I've a registered nick name and connect via ssl to freenode.
However it seems that KOnversation sends only the string "identify <password>" to the server instead "/msg nickserv identify <password>" - isn't it ?

Reproducible: Didn't try

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.35.4
Compiler: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc

The Handbook says "/msg service IDENTIFY password " that wioll be send but freenode seems to expect the string "nickserv" instead. Any chance to change this ?

Hi,

could you please open the identity-dialog ("Settings" -> "Identities").

At the bottom of that dialog you will find the "Auto Identify" area.
Are you sure you put in "NickServ" as service there?

BTW: There's another option to identify yourself on freenode.
Open the server dialog ("File" -> "Server List"), select the freenode server from the list and click "Edit" on the right.
In the dialog that pops up then you select the server url (usually irc.freenode.net) and click edit.
In that new dialog you can enter a "server password".

Regards,
Martin
