Illustration of spurious notifications

Version: 2.0 beta1 (using KDE 4.5.1)
OS: Linux

I use kdepim 4.5-beta3 (4.4.93), kmail 2 with akonadi_imap_resource pointing to GMail IMAP server. I've enabled interval mail checking (each 10 minutes), but that generates false new email notifications sometimes when interval checking mail. Restarting kmail "flushes" false notifications - e.g. no new false notifications appear until a receive true new mail. Receiving new mail triggers subsequent false notifications.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Configure akonadi_imap_resource (I use GMail) to do interval checking
2. Start kmail and receive some new mail
3. Wait for a few inverval mail checks

Actual Results:
New mail notifications appear for already received and read mail

Expected Results:
New mail notifications are only issued for emails that are truly new.

I don't use any advanced functionality such as filtering etc.
