Description Dave Clarke 2010-09-07 11:38:45 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.4)
OS: Linux

When showing a display in VMware, it can be full screen, or in a smaller box, where the the guest OS is shown within the VMware application. Currently the user must manually change the resolution of the display, for each display type.

The automatic change of resolution would be rather nice.

I assume this is also applicable to other virtual machine types.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Run a guest OS in VMware, which uses KDE, and view within the VMware application. Say the display uses an appropriate resolution for the window within the VMware application.

Now fullscreen the guest application (Ctl+Alt+Enter)

Actual Results:
The display resolution has not changed, so the display looks wrong.

Expected Results:
The resolution changed to one appropriate to the display. Task bar resized, and widgets shifted appropriately.

KDE adapts to screen resolution changes when informed via the xrandr (X resize and rotate) extension. Please report this idea to vmware developers so that they can add support for this extension to vmware.
