Version: unspecified
OS: Linux

there is a security risk on workstations with the only purpose to display on screen information/stats/monitoring and do not require keyboard/mouse input during normal operation. they may be unattended at some times and input should remain locked unless password is entered.

this is a basic feature available in sun and windows desktops but not yet in kde. i understand the purpose of a screensaver is to keep monitor working and a transparent screensaver would not do it (not needed in this case either) but looks like it's the best place to implement this feature

this feature may improve security to IT/support staff, bank/trading information screens, embedded systems and other setup's where screen has to update the whole time but input devices should remain locked

Reproducible: Didn't try

the info display thingie could be done by using the plasma widgets on screensaver feature. other than that, this is a dupe ...
