I was editing a file which contained a small number (1, actually) of very long lines.  Kate was very *slow* until I tried to scroll to the very long line, at which point it appeared to go off into the ether and never come back. It was totally unresponsive. It was using 100% of the CPU. This is not a slow machine, and I waited several minutes.

Eventually, I had to kill it.

I am able to see this same issue on:

Kate Version 3.4.5
Using KDE Development Platform 4.4.5 (KDE 4.4.5)
