The column view cannot be used with keyboard only (KDE 4.4.5).

I can provide examples like:

1) start dolphin
2) switch to column view
3) use UP/DOWN keys to highlight a folder
-> press ENTER
4) the folder is opened in a new column
5) UP/DOWN and highlight another folder
-> press ENTER
... nothing happens :-(

Or you can try to press BACK/LEFT (after step 5) in order to go back on the previous folder, but at this point the behaviour is not predictable (or I've not understand how it works).

I suggest the following behaviour:
(on LTR systems)
- ENTER/RIGHT open the file/folder. If it is a folder open it on a new column and allow the user to browse it (with UP/DOWN keys)
- BACKSPACE/LEFT : move the focus on the parent folder

(on RTL systems LEFT and RIGHT should be inverted :-) )

I'm not sure if set this report as a bug (keys don't work on column view) or as a wish :-)

What do you think Peter?

Hmmm... very good, it looks fixed in KDE 4.5 :-)
