Description Todd 2010-08-22 20:23:11 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.0)
OS: Linux

Sometimes I want to download a lot of things from a list. So what I do is either scroll up or down so all new entries or shown, or click above or below the current place on the scrollbar to move up or down one page. I then click the entries I want. However, sometimes when I do this the wrong entry is downloaded. If I am scrolling up, it is always the entry directly above the one I clicked, while if I am scrolling down it is always the entry directly below the one I clicked. Usually, but not always, it happens on the second-to-last entry on the page (so the last entry in the page is the one downloaded). So if scrolling up, it usually happens on the 2nd from the top, while when scrolling down it usually happens on the 2nd from the bottom. There doesn't seem to be a reliable way to trigger it, but it happens fairly often when downloading a large number of entries. The best way to trigger it is probably just to move down the list downloading every file.

Reproducible: Sometimes

I think I figured out what is happening here. The problem seems to be that when the system is under load, it takes a few moments for the interface to register the mouse click. This means you click on something, then move the mouse, then it registers the mouse click. However, between the time you clicked and the click is registered your mouse has changed position, resulting in the wrong button being clicked. This is just a possibility, but it seems consistent with the behavior.
