Bug confirmed in KDE 4.5.0. It works in KDE 4.4.5 :-( I'm facing it also with Dolphin 1.5, KDE 4.5.1. I think this is "invalid". For all my "transparent" GIFs I have previews in dolphin in KDE 4.4.x and 4.5.x. But I have to admit for that cute little fox I don't get a preview when saved to disk. BUT when you look at the picture with a hex-editor you'll notice that this file indeed isn't a GIF, it's a PNG! Rename it and you'll get the preview! I have had this with files too that were named as .jpg but actually were PNGs. And I think dolphin is right to not show the preview of those files because that's a hint for the user that there is something wrong - in that case the file classification - so that it can be corrected. I think dolphin should show the previews for those wrong named files nonetheless. But it should also show a clear warning in the tooltip information that the filetype is wrong. I think this report and bug 220496 are talking about the same problem. Also see see bug 182361. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 220496 *** I don't know if i made the correct action... I put this bug as closed, because 1.7 - KDE 4.7.4 now the issue seems to be fixed. |
