unnamed activities automatically created after login
the undesired activities must be manually erased.
(In reply to comment #0) > Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.5.0) > OS: Linux > > after some test on activities management, I created and renamed two activities. > then I logout and with a new login I faced two "unnamed" activities. > > > Reproducible: Didn't try Actually, I can reproduce the bug at each login. I can confirm the auto-generation of activities. I've configured two activities, on the next login I've found four activities. P.S: I'm using 4.5.0 too This is a hugely annoying bug and very evident and easy to reproduce. I have the same issue with opensuse 11.3 kde 4.5 packages. Any one have a workaround for this in the meanwhile? Bug confirmed on my machine. Can I send plasma's configuration file and put it here? Maybe other help from my side? New users accounts are affected, but when I uses multiple activities new one will be created on each login. I uses OpenSUSE 11.3 and update KDE SC to version 4.5. Problem occurs after update. Maybe my post isn't helpful to developers, but I will propose an workaround: Please change the icons of activities created by your own. Thanks. I found this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=243003 I think, that both bug are related. Behavior of plasma in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=243003 are very similar. I didn't found bug or write a patch, but I solved it on my installation. Maybe this information would be useful: 1. Backup ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc file. It could be helpful if you broke something 2. Open ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc file 3. Search for desktop=-1 4. You would remove all of entry looking like(containing only this three lines): [contaiments][n] desktop=-1 screen=-1 n is number. 5. Don't remove entry with line plugin=panel . 6. Save changes 7. Kill plasma(I've used CTRL+ALT+Backspace) After this plasma will change default theme to oxygen, but won't create empty activities. You can change theme to previous. since there is no way now to debug, i'm closing this report. There have been many fixes to this problem for 4.5.2 and the not yet released 4.5.3 Hello, I'm running kde 4.5.3 on opensuse 11.3, and the bug definitely still exists. I've done the following many times to start my plasma fresh again after this bug rears it's head: kquitapp plasma-desktop rm -rf .kde4/share/apps/plasma/ rm -f .kde4/share/config/plasm* rm -f .kde4/share/config/activitymanagerrc plasma-desktop I then proceed to re-setup my entire plasma from scratch. Then several fresh boots away this problem re-occurs. What more info can we give? ps this bug should be re-opened, since the problem definitely exists. reopening. But i think this might be a dupe. Chani might know more yes, this is a dupe. the issue is fixed in 4.6; aaron told me not to backport, but I guess he hasn't had time to commit his alternative fix for the 4.5 branch. for now, just don't try to close or delete activities while your widgets are locked. maybe I should just backport anyways? *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 248386 *** > maybe I should just backport anyways?
Well, if you have the possibility (time) to backport the fix it would be
appreciated :-)
