Description Ralf Jung 2010-08-08 22:18:38 UTC
Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux

I have my system set up to use the German language everywhere, so I was not surprised seeing "Deutsch" ("German") being the default language for spell checking. However, when I checked why spell checking does not work e.g. in Kopete, it turned out that this is actually wrong, and the drop-down menu displayed in the KCM module does not even allow to choose this option. I changed it to "Deutsch (Deutschland)" ("German (Germany)"), and now spell checking in Kopete works.
So either the default needs to be changed, or the items just containing the language without a country should work, too. Currently, installing Kubuntu 10.04 out-of-the-box, KDE provides no functional spell checking.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just try with the default configuration (I am using Kubuntu 10.04) - I did not test other languages though.

OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.32-24-generic
Compiler: cc
