These problems started as soon as I switched my calendar to the Akonadi Calendar resource, before then I was experiencing no difficulties. Now the Kontact application is very unstable and prone to frequent (lock-ups) crashes. At this point Akonadi stops and I usually have to reboot in order to re-start Kontact. I will try running the Kontact applications individually to see if they behave when not running as part of the Kontact suite,.

The crash can be reproduced every time.
