The problem basically consists of whichever window I'm using losing focus every 5-30 seconds. I see nothing else grabbing the focus. Alt-TAB twice or mouse clicking on the window gets the focus back to the window I was using. Alt-TAB also shows no other window having the focus.

Needless to say this is a huge nuisance.

Steps to Reproduce:
I observed this problem the first time when I tried upgrading from KDE 4.4.2 to 4.5 beta1. It was so annoying that I ended up downgrading back to 4.4.3. This made the problem go away. I later upgraded to 4.5 rc2 which I'm still running.

In the beginning I just saw a bug that happened most of the time but not all the time I think. Was very hard to figure out how to reproduce it. At this point I've found out that it happens pretty much consistently when running on battery or when the battery is charging until it hits about 99 % charged. I'm not sure it can't happen otherwise though but it rarely does.

Also I only have this one system where I experience the problem. Didn't try on other systems.



I have no idea if it's really xinerama related but I do have xinerama enabled because I sometimes use two monitors. Whether or not I use two monitors has no effect on the bug though.

Could you check if removing any battery plasmoid (from panel and system tray) fixes the issue?

Yeah, looks like that makes the issue go away. And readding a battery plasmoid makes it reappear.

Do you use any third party notification system, such as Colibri? From what I understand, battery notifications take away the focus.

I do not. I may have a few months

Meh. Meant to write: I may have a few months ago but I uninstalled the last bits of it by the end of May (assuming that was Colibri).

... and if so, do you have any special focus settings changed? Focus follows mouse, or something like this?

Notifications are completely passive, and I've never seen this issue.
