Description root 2010-08-02 23:23:09 UTC
Version: 1.3.90 (using KDE 4.4.92)
OS: Linux

* Sorry if this is a DUP. There a lot of "akonadi crash" bugs, but I couldn't find any about zombie processes.

It never crashes with a core dump/back trace. It just locks up my GUI. If I wait a minute or two, KDE will go black then kick back to the login GUI. Some times if I'm quick I'm able to Alt + Ctrl + F1 to pull up a console. From console "top" shows a few akonadi processes taking up near 100% CPU time and lots of memory. "ps -auxw | grep akonad" shows the following:

brett 6091 0.0 0.0 81424 1380 ? Sl 09:43 0:00 /usr/bin/akonadi_control

If I kill the processes I am able to use the GUI again. In an attempt to fix this I deleted my .kde directory (minus kwallet). I also deleted .local/share/akonadi. I also removed the googledata resource (apt-get remove akonadi-kde-resource-googledata). But it still locks up my GUI.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
It happens every time I start my system, but I'm not sure how I got it into this state. I had installed ankonadi-kde-resource-googledata several days before. However, it had worked without issue after this. I also recently moved the laptop hard drive from a 1 year old EliteBook 8530w to a new EliteBook 8530w. The only difference in laptops is 200Mhz more CPU. (unless its a race condition, I doubt the new hardware is the cause)

This bug has only been reported for versions older than KDEPIM 4.14 (at most akonadi-1.3). Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a recent version of akonadi (part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
