OS: Linux

It would be nice if there was an option that, when you click on a link to a new domain (i.e. a different website), rekonq opens that link in a new tab instead of the current tab. This is an option under tab mix plus for firefox and I think it is very helpful.

So for example you might be on a website, say http://www.fuu.com/my/page/frogs.html, and it has a link to a completely different site for more information, say http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frog, the second web page will be opened in a new tab instead of in the current tab. On the other hand, http://my.fuu.com/index.html would not open a new tab (because it is still fuu.com), but http://www.fuu.edu/ would open a new tab (because it is *.edu not *.com).

The reason for this, at least for me, is that separate web pages tend to have very different content, very different layout, and often lots more information, so it tends to be more convenient and less disruptive to open it in a new tab so the two pages can be browsed side-by-side. It is not always clear from a link whether it opens in a new domain or not, so middle clicking is not an option.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Development on Rekonq ceased four years ago, and it has been unmaintained since then. KDE recommends using Falkon instead.
