A lot of "unnamed" activites with weird images with same names. Some started, some stopped...
plasma/activities config files to reproduce bug |
reappearing activities? it sounds like the activity was deleted from plasma, but not from the kded. I can't remember whether that was fixed before or after beta 2... I guess it must have been after. but now that you're on rc1 it shouldn't happen again. as for panels... they really shouldn't be going away. they've got nothing to do with activities. :/ I'm not sure what happened there (unless you deleted plasma-desktop-appletsrc) No, I didn't delete any configuration files. Do I open an other report to the panel issue? My system is openSUSE with Qt 4.6.3. SVN commit 1145652 by chani: Proper migration code also, make extra certain the current activity is initialized (and make a guess at what to initialize it *to*). this hasn't been extensively tested, so I'd appreciate it if people could play with it :) note that upgrading from a beta to this code (trunk or.. rc2?) may not work as well as upgrading from 4.4. you did a backup before trying the beta, right? ;) (it won't break anything, it just won't fix things the beta may have broken) CCBUG: 243003 CCBUG: 238699 BUG: 242983 M +38 -9 desktopcorona.cpp WebSVN link: http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=1145652 hrm, looks like I CC'd the wrong bug number. oops. yes, do make a separate report for panel trouble (and search for duplicates - I think I saw a similar thing in another BR). hrm, looks like I CC'd the wrong bug number. oops. yes, do make a separate report for panel trouble (and search for duplicates - I think I saw a similar thing in another BR). I searched for duplicates, but didn't found one. I reported the panel issue as Bug 246855. Created attachment 49885 [details]
plasma/activities config files to reproduce bug
When using clean config files, bug is indeed fixed (deleted activities are removed from plasma*rc files(). However issue still remains for those that installed 4.5 alpha/beta/rc for some reason.
Attaching 'affected' config files as an example scenario to reproduce.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Replace existing share/config/{plasma*,activitymanagerrc} and share/apps/plasma-desktop/* with files from atached archive.
2. Start plasma-desktop, right click on desktop context menu -> Activities
3. There are a few (around 7) activities created when plasma-desktop crashed (issue introduced somewhere before 4.5 tagging)
4. Remove those who are not named 'Desktop' for instance
5. Restart plasma-desktop (activities will be back)
Similar issue here. Upgraded from 4.4 to 4.5Final. Several times I've deleted activities so that there only 2. Upon restart, those 2 activities have each been duplicated 3 times for a total of 8 activities (A1,A2,A1a,A2a,A1b,A2b,A1c,A2c). is this bug still present with kde 4.5.2? fixed in 4.6, but not 4.5. in 4.5, unlock your widgets before closing or removing activities. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 248386 *** |
Created attachment 48392 [details] A lot of "unnamed" activites with weird images with same names. Some started, some stopped... Version: unspecified (using Devel) OS: Linux When I installed KDE 4.5 beta 2, I deleted all of the activities. Now I upgraded to 4.5 RC 1, a lot of activities are back. The main problem with them that after upgrade the full desktop has changed. I configured my desktop with some plasmoids on it and now all of them _along with the panel_ are gone... So my desktop is completely empty now. Exactly this happened with the beta 1 > beta 2 upgrade. Reproducible: Always OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31.12-0.2-desktop Compiler: gcc
