Description Erik Kjellson 2010-06-21 19:39:00 UTC
Version: 2.3 (using KDE 4.3.5)
OS: Linux

If nepomuk is disabled and you rate a picture, there are no warnings from Gwenview. Instead Gwenview shows the rating you picked, but the ratings are gone the next time you open Gwenview and look at the picture.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Disable nepomuk by running "systemsettings" and go Advanced > Desktop Search, then disable "Enable Nepomuk Semantic Desktop".
2. Open a picture in Gwenview.
3. Rate it.
4. Close Gwenview.
5. Reopen the picture in Gwenview, now your rating is gone.

Actual Results:
Ratings are not being saved.

Expected Results:
Ratings being saved.

Oh, sorry, "Expected results" should be:
"A warning telling me that ratings are disabled as long as nepomuk is disabled"

In recent versions, if nepomuk is disabled, gwenview does not show ratings, and does not allow users to add/mofify ratings.

But why? It should use the XMP tag "Rating" - show already set tags and add/modify new ratings done in gwenview to this tag.
I'm not using nepomuk and I'm using digikam for ratings but for viewing photos I like gwenview very much. It would be great to see and filter for XMP rating tags in gwenview, too!

Saving to XMP is a separate feature. It does not belong to this bug report. Please file a separate bug for it.
