Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.4.4)
OS: Linux

[ejm@Galicja ~]$ uname -a
Linux Galicja 2.6.34-ARCHMOD #1 PREEMPT Mon May 17 03:57:46 CEST 2010 x86_64 Genuine Intel(R) CPU 575 @ 2.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

I have recently upgraded to X.Org X Server version 1.8.1 using Arch Linux and it no longer requires HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer). Instead, it now uses UDEV (Userspace Dev Tools) and works very well. Since KDE is still dependent on HAL, this prevents me from completely removing HAL from my system.

When will HAL no longer be a required dependency for KDE? Are there future plans for this? Thanks.

Reproducible: Didn't try
