Application: kate (3.4.2)
KDE Platform Version: 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2)
Qt Version: 4.6.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.32-22-generic x86_64
Distribution: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

-- Information about the crash:
In the context menu for a remote file, I selected the view or edit file option. FileZilla is set to use Kate, though I'm running Gnome, but with this new install of 10.04 Ubuntu, it just crashes when FileZilla tries to open a file with it.

The backtrace of the crash does not contain any useful information about the crash. Maybe check your KDE installation. This does not look like a Kate issue...
Hence, close as waiting-for-info, sorry... :(
