When I logged in with a new user account and sets the wallpaper, it seems not to save over sessions. I got it working by deleting all activities, leaving only one and then setting the wallpaper on that one. 

The deleted activities came back after I relogged but the wallpaper saved on the only activity I did not delete.

Steps to Reproduce:
New account, set wallpaper, relog

Actual Results:  
Default wallpaper is shown

Expected Results:  
New new shiny wallpaper should be shown

you did not specifiy the kde version. i suppose kde 4.5 beta 2
