Sentry Crash Report:

Description Frank Steinmetzger 2010-06-03 23:34:54 UTC
Version: 1.00 (using KDE 4.4.3)
OS: Linux

For some time now (I don’t know exactly how long), the chat window’s size is not correct:
when I double-click a contact, I usually had a window popping up with an aspect of about 4:3. But now, it is always very narrow. By looking at kopeterc, I just found out that it actually gets the window size of the contact list instead of the one for chat windows.
Further more, if I resize the chat window to my usual size, then close the contact window and reopen it later, the contact list often adopts the dimensions I last set to the chat window.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
Open a chat window, resize it, close it.

Actual Results:
The chat window size becomes that of the contact list and vice versa.

Expected Results:
The chat window size should be independent of the contact list‘s.

I have the same problem.

KDE 4.8.2
Kopete 1.2.1
Kubuntu 12.04

Reproducible: Always

Ironically, I haven't had it in a long while. I just tried to reproduce it in accordance with my first description, but failed (using KDE 4.9 now). In fact, the chat window remembered its own size between sessions, and so did the contact list.

Felinux, is it still a problem for you? If not, I could mark it as worksforme.

Yes, it is. Now I have Kopete 1.2.3 and KDE 4.8.4.

The chat window keeps its size now. But the main window always starts with some pre-defined size. It does not remember where it was when last quit and how big it was. So as to the original problem in this bug, this is fixed (kinda-sorta).

However I’m sad to say that—while trying to narrow down the behavior—I encountered many problems that make Kopete unusable in its current state.
- it reliably crashed when I pressed Ctrl+Q in the main window while a chat window was open
- when trying to look whether I had an option enabled or disabled, I opened the settings window and Kopete freezes up right away in a memory leak loop
