Description Christian Hartmann 2010-05-31 20:20:43 UTC
Version: 4.4.3 (using KDE 4.4.3)
OS: Linux

I use Kontact with both IMAP and dIMAP accounts. Some time ago I changed my password on the server and today I used another pc where the old password was stored, but kontact didn't show me a message that it couldn't log in to the server. It was just quiet.

Same thing happened to me with the connection method. Another mail-provider changed its server settings and doesn't allow tls-connections anymore but ssl-connections. Again there was no error message that the login didn't work.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Change server settings back to something that doesn't work (e.g. tls) and try to fetch new mail

Actual Results:
No new mail appears, no error message

Expected Results:
Message should pop up and tell the user about the error

Hello,

i had a similar problem: Kmail saved the pop3-password. Today I created a new password at the email provider. Then I tried to fetch my mails with Kmail(with the old and saved password). There was no error message. It just looked like there were no new mails!??

I guess I had the second problem, too: At the beginning as I configured Kmail it was really hard to set up the pop3-configurations. There were also no error messages which showed a failure.

Regards

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
