Sentry Crash Report:

Description Chirag Anand 2010-05-30 10:20:30 UTC
Version: 1.12.2 (using KDE 4.3.5)
OS: Linux

I followed the instructions from http://docs.kde.org/stable/en/kdepim/kmail/faq.html#id2568470 to move the mail folder location but Kmail started to download all the email messages again from the start in the ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail directory.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Exit KMail
2. make a backup of ~/.kde/share/config/kmailrc
3. then open it with an editor and edit "folders=$HOME/.mail" in the “[General]” section.
4. mv ~/.kde4/share/apps/kmail/* ~/.mail/

Actual Results:
Open KMail, it will start downloading all the messages again.

I was not using any local/server-side subscriptions, so that couldn't have caused this.

This isn’t possible anymore since in KDEPIM 4.6 the data is stored in akonadi and asaik it’s impossible to configure it’s data location.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
