What's the base OS on which virtual box was running (presumably windows) specify full version and patch level, including whether it's a 64-bit installation. K3b is a KDE application, and it's support level under Gnome is sort of "as is". You've got a very unconventional installation, and I seriously doubt anyone will be able to replicate it.
