Version:           unknown (using 4.4.2 (KDE 4.4.2), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler:          cc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-22-generic

Since the upgrade to Kubuntu 10.04 and thus to KDE 4.4.2 the interface becomes repeatedly unresponsive.  After a ~10 seconds the system responds again.  This behavior repeats every ~5 minutes.  The behavior is especially obvious when using Konsole.  When the system becomes unresponsive, windows are no longer updated and it's not possible to change focus to another application.

I'm more than willing to help debug this issue but I'm not sure how.

Sounds like a DBus issue. Did you try a clean install or a clean user account?

Thank you for response.  Reinstalling is not very practical... is there another way to debug dbus issue?  A particular log file?  Or can I put on dbus debugging?

I have upgraded Kubuntu Lucid with the dbus 1.2.24 packages from Debian Sid and the problem seems to be solved now.
