Knotes seems to work ok but there is no activity when I ask it to print a note. I wonder if it needs a2ps installed?

Should work with the current cvs. And no, KNotes doesn't need a2ps for printing  
(anymore). AFAIK the KNotes that comes with KDE 3.0.X should print just fine as 
well.
