To some extent, putting the tabs into separate windows accomplishes this. You can drag and drop tags between Konsole windows as necessary.
Yeah, I tried that, but it didn't work out too well for me. Instead of having one cluttered Konsole instance, I ended up with either a cluttered toolbar, or all the Konsole instances grouped into one icon on the toolbar which means a click to see what I have open. With tab groups: a.) You wouldn't have a half dozen konsole instances in my taskbar (if I want them to be visible), or grouped (in which case I have to click to see which konsole window I actually want) b.) Access to keyboard shortcuts to only flip through tab groups, instead of having to alt+tab my way through all of my open apps when I want to switch, to move tab groups around in the bar for organization purposes (much like I can do with tabs now) I'd be in favor of this if there were (a) shortcuts to open tabs within the group, and (b) I could have an expanded view of the current tab group visible in the tab bar. I see that this will be useful for anyone who works with number of terminals. Is there any reason why this feature is not considered yet? |
