When removing a link from an editor that is derived from KRichTextEdit, all formatting is removed, not just the link related formatting. It is reset to plain text. KJots is an example of one application that uses this component.

A patch to fix this behavior has been submitted for review at:

I think this can be closed as it's fixed in 4.5:
