Description Bernhard Jungk 2010-04-09 16:35:03 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When editing a connection, there is the option to edit the routes. The gnome applet allows to add routes here, which get configured on activation of the network connection. knetworkmanager provides only the option to ignore the automatically obtained routes or the option "use only for resources on this connection".

This seems to be working with plasmoid version. Can you confirm?

Network Manager Plasmoid Routes

The screenshot shows the dialog for editing the routes of a VPN connection, so, this does not work, since there is no way to add a route here.

You should use the "Additional addresses" combo box option instead of "routes".

I see how this is supposed to work. Still this is somehow "not working", because I'm unable to add routes to a VPN using DHCP, because it is greyed out.

Setting additional routes for a VPN network using DHCP does make sense sometimes, e.g. I use a VPN connection at work, which I use as my default gateway. Some printers, servers and other local devices are in a different subnet then my LAN IP, therefore I have to setup different routes for these connections.

Which widget is greyed out? What type of VPN do you use? I am using VPNC and Plasma NM allows me to add route to IPs address from other interfaces besides the VPN one, that is the pourpose of the "additional addresses" dialog. It should solve your problem.

The change to enable "additional addresses" for DHCP connection is from April 20th. Maybe you are using an older version.

I'm using PPTP.

I've just checked the Ubuntu 11.04 version. It is from April 8th, so probably it's just a too old version.
