There is a function to edit a mail - but I find no one to save the edited one in-place. Therefor there is no chance to add comments to a mail.

valid in kmail2. an edited message cannot be 'saved', only sent (or canceled)

In kmail2 (KDE-4.10) you can: save as file, save as draft, save as template and the other options for sending the edited mail
