What I was doing when the application crashed:
Running KDE 4.3.2 on Kubuntu 9.10, which I try hard to keep current. Using apt-get update, followed by apt-get upgrade, the system tells me that currently all installed software systems are current. 

Several times in one day, Amarok has crashed after playing from one to a few songs in a playlist of over 600. When Amarok starts-up, a message is briefly displayed saying something about "Falling back to PulseAudio", but the message appears for only a few seconds, so I can't give you the exact wording.

The Amarok version you are using is very, very old. Please upgrade to a recent one, that bug is veeeeery likely already fixed.

Many thanks for your reply. I thought I was using the most current 
version because I have been regularly updating Kubuntu. Obviously, that 
wasn't the case. I now have Amarok 2.3.0 installed. If something goes 
wrong with it, I'll file a bug report.
