When adding or editing something in a google resource (like an addressbook or a calendar), kontact always freezes for a while - maybe a few minutes. I suppose it's really a problem with akonadi?

I think you mean KAddresBook, not Kontact. Cannot confirm this in KAddressbook. Can add and modify contact without freezes.

Problem seems to be resolved in kaddressbook 4.4.5 and akonadi 1.3.1
