----

I love kmail and I'm using it since 2002, but I have just come aware that it has this silly behaviour by design: it changes automatically the special characters used for spacing and indentation in text. This is unimportant until you send a message, but if you receive emails containing a diff/patch to apply to a piece of code, then everything must be indented again (with sad results).
This bug has shown up more then 1 year ago in linux kernel mailing list http://kerneltrap.org/mailarchive/linux-kernel/2007/7/5/112282/thread and it's really a pity that it is still there. BTW I have "re-invented" the wheel with this bug report, but I really wish that the guys upstream fix it.
Cheers

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
