Description Marc Deop 2010-03-13 20:18:48 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.4.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Archlinux Packages

The KDE desktop is *slow* whenever I use kwin as window manager. It doesn't matter if composite is on or off and wheter is opengl, xrender or any of the other options.

The system is just sluggish, changing tabs on any app is terrible and opening an app takes a lot of time.

I do not have exact numbers although using fluxbox or enlightenment as window manager makes the system *a lot* faster (actually usable).

I'm running on an Intel graphics system (gm945) using the 2.10.901 driver, kernel 2.6.33, mesa 7.7 and libdrm 2.4.18.

sorry for the delay ;-)
please check whether this is the issue described in bugs 178269, 183263, 241094 & 243094
Comment 2 Marc Deop 2010-11-13 20:03:34 UTC
It does look a lot like the bug 178269.

I guess we can mark this as a duplicated bug?

ok.

please feel free to reopen it in case 4.6 or the provided patch (in case you compile from source) does not fix it for you.
