I configured Kmail to notificate me with a sound when new mail arrive (/usr/share/sounds/KDE-Im-New-Mail.ogg) but no notification sound sounds.
 
The checkbox is marked. When clicking on the play button the sound is played back.

The Audio output configuration for notifications in systemsettings is configured correctly and successfully tested.

I"ve the same problem. In fact, the notification pop-out doesn't work either. (It does rarely, however.)

KDE 4.4.5, Kubuntu 10.04.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
