Version:            (using KDE 4.4.0)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    openSUSE RPMs

After login kde crashs with "Application: Plasma-Arbeitsfläche (kdeinit4), signal: Segmentation fault"

Yesterday it worked, nothing changed ((;-)). It is reproduceable, no chance to login. Now I have to use iceMW...

I have no idea to repair, a reinstall of kde4 and plasma rpm via yast doesn't help.

- Are both kdelibs* and kdebase* packages update, and at the same version (4.4.0) ?

suse yast says

kdelibs4 v.4.4.0-2.4
kdebase 4.3.5-0.1.1
kdebase4-runtime 4.4.0-190.1

yast means, it's all the newest...

- Are all the others KDE SC 4 packages updated to 4.4.0 ? 
As it seems you were using the image wallpaper, if you had all the kde official packages at 4.4.0; this crash shouldn't happen: bug 226263 / bug 218010
- So, if you can still reproduce the crash all the times, install the "kdebase4-workspace-debuginfo", "kdelibs4-debuginfo" packages and paste here a new trace (more information at http://techbase.kde.org/User:DarioAndres/Basic_Guide_about_Crash_Reporting)

Now I checked the KDE versions of all packages (I use opensue yast). It
seems, that not all components updated to 4.4.0, some are V4.3.5. Now I
downgraded all to 4.3.5 and it woks.
Next try to 4.4.0 is coming soon. (I have some pressure from other tasks).
I 've no idea, what the online update did with me....
